The WELS is our national denomination. Characterized as theologically conservative, it is the third largest Lutheran church body in America. The WELS began in 1850 when three German pastors met to organize their churches together in Milwaukee. Today, it has grown to over 1,200 congregations in North America. It has over 400,000 baptized members, which includes over 300,000 communicants, served by over 1,000 pastors.

A slightly smaller church body with roots just as deep, the ELS is in full doctrinal agreement with the WELS. We consider her a dear sister of ours in Christ, and we encourage you to think so, too! The ELS was organized in 1918 by pastors and laymen who felt conscience-bound not to ignore the Scriptures and participate in a merger that compromised their confession.

The CELC is the world-wide fellowship to which the WELS and ELS belong. If you're headed overseas for a vacation, a business trip, or an extended stay at a military post, we'd encourage you to look up the church body that represents your region. All the churches of the CELC are in full doctrinal agreement with one another, and we want you to get to know them!

Supported by our congregations, GPLHS is also the closest Lutheran high school to us. The school's philosophy of education, its practice and its policies are based upon the Bible as the inerrant Word of God. A synod-owned and operated high school, the continuing mission and purpose of LPS is to prepare and encourage young men and women for the full time ministry in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. It's a well-established and well-respected boarding school, and the oldest Lutheran high school in the United States. LPS is located at 1300 Western Avenue, Watertown, WI.

A synod-owned and operated high school, MLS has retained a name that reflects the school's original purpose: as a theological school for Michigan's earliest Lutherans. As our churches have evolved in their ministries, the purpose of MLS changed, too. But its gospel has never changed, and our teens need it as much as we do! MLC is our "college of ministry" that works to prepare preachers, teachers, and staff ministers for the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. If you're ever driving by, stop in for a morning or evening chapel service, or grab something to eat in the cafeteria, which is open to the public. Ask for a tour while you're there, too! WLS offers theological training for men who desire to enter the pastoral ministry of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod or of churches within its fellowship. The seminary also offers opportunity for theological and professional growth to men who already are active in the pastoral ministry of its confessional fellowship. A professional and Christian counseling agency, WLCFS was founded in 1965 to reflect the healing and helping ministry of Jesus Christ. Especially for the developmentally disabled, Jesus Cares is an arm of The Lutheran home Association. Jesus Cares Ministries exists to bring the saving, loving message of our Lord and Savior to children, adults, and their families. They accomplish this mission through Christian support, education, worship, fellowship, and evangelism. Their programs warmly reach out to welcome and embrace everyone.

A pro-life ministry, the goal of CLR is to educate all people on the value and sanctity of every human life; and develops programs and supports projects that protect and maintain life on the basis of the teachings of God's Word. The intent is to mobilize Christians to make God-pleasing decisions about life and family issues.

For those struggling with pornography, CTC is a ministry of the WELS that tries to aid Christians in their spiritual battle with this kind of sexual addiction. If this is a battle you fight, the best thing you can do is get connected with God's Word and fellow Christians who have similar struggles they're committed to working through.

For Christians struggling with same-sex attraction, People of Grace is a support and outreach ministry in its infant years. Operated by a WELS member, Scott Barefoot, this ministry tries of foster support and connection between saints who face this particular temptation and all its accompanying difficulties.

The LWMS is comprised of all women of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod and is focused on the exciting mission of sharing Jesus throughout the world and here in the United States. Peace congregation also has a ladies group that is actively involved in the collective mission of the LWMS.

A preaching ministry, Time of Grace Ministry exists for the sole purpose of winning souls for eternity. ToG shares the great good news of Jesus by broadcasting a weekly radio and television broadcast that originates at St. Marcus Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Time of Grace is broadcast in various venues across the United States, reaching millions in the towns, cities and rural areas of our nation.

A creation science institute, LSI is made up of like-minded WELS and ELS members who are interested in the latest scientific developments and knowledge, yet remain compelled by God's Word. An outreach ministry to Mormons, TILM was begun by a WELS pastor who saw the righteous devastation that the law of God brings to human hearts, but saw nothing of the gospel within Mormonism. If you'd like to educate yourself on understanding and reaching out to Mormon neighbors, this would be a great resource to equip you as you go.

What About Jesus? is a website for the unchurched. Developed by the WELS Commission on Evangelism, the site offers a non-threatening environment to meet objections to Christianity and promote understanding of who Jesus is, and what God would have us know about him.

GSI - Good Stewards, Inc. Thrift Store
The mission of GSI is to resell good quality, donated items to raise money in support of Great Plains Lutheran High School and other WELS and ELS ministries, missions, and projects. A hands-on mission organization, Kingdom Workers hopes to share the gospel with all people by working with individual members, ministries, and congregations, by heightening awareness of mission and outreach needs and opportunities, by coordinating lay efforts and volunteer efforts in mission fields, and by promoting and providing support for ministry projects in which KW is a partner.
