“I have found peace at Peace Lutheran Church” is a comment from one of our newer members. I’ve been the pastor here for over 8 years, and I think this comment is true. It is a pretty peaceful place. The members seem to love each other’s company. Most of them hang out chatting with each other long after worship is over on a Sunday morning. I have to lead another worship service at our sister congregation to the west, and I’m usually late to arrive, because I have a hard time ripping myself away from the people of Peace.
I think that comment about finding Peace was a much deeper observation than a feeling of friendliness and a non-threatening atmosphere. We live in a world where there is not peace. From wars, to hectic schedules, and bruised relationships, and battered consciences – peace is not something that we get to enjoy much of. That is, without Jesus. I believe that peace is impossible without Jesus. With Him, we have peace. His blood shed on a cross is what has made peace. Here at Peace Lutheran Church we are together in the privilege of making of disciples of Jesus. I think that almost everything we do here is intended to bring people closer to Jesus by sharing his words with them. That we might follow him more nearly and love him more dearly.
